complex trauma

What is “trauma”?

I welcome all individuals who are seeking therapy and honor the bravery that it takes to begin this journey. I specialize in working with Complex PTSD (C-PTSD) and Developmental Trauma. Trauma can be a hard topic to talk about. You may be reading this and thinking “I’ve never experienced anything that bad” or “I’m friends with people who have experienced much worse.” Often we minimize or compare our experiences with those of our friends who are somehow more valid. We struggle to name our trauma, but trauma includes impactful events like not having our needs met growing up or a breakup you cannot seem to shake. You did not have to go to war for trauma to have touched your story.

Chronic trauma is stored in the body and can manifest as feeling on edge, feeling overstimulated, or people-pleasing behavior. As a former EMT, I understand how these experiences can manifest somatically.

chronic illness & pain

Will you believe me?

In addition to my trauma-informed approach, my niche is working with people who experience Chronic Illness, Pain, and Fatigue. One type of trauma that is often overlooked is medical trauma. As a former EMT, I witnessed the invalidation and exhaustion that can come from simply trying to “prove” your diagnoses to people who just don’t understand. I believe you. From diagnosis to navigating life after treatment - I am in your corner. I will work with you towards reducing medical anxiety, processing diagnoses and loss, and living a full life again.

obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD)

Do I have OCD?

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) has been a hot topic recently. You may have seen an advertisement from NOCD and wondered if you have OCD. You may seek reassurance from loved ones, mentally replay conversations in your head, or take hours to evaluate every possible outcome before making a decision. Does this mean you have OCD? It’s complicated. Complex Trauma, OCD, and ADHD can all present with distracting thoughts that are hard to get space from. Together we will tease apart your symptoms and help you figure out which labels are most relevant to your symptoms. If OCD ends up being a part of your story, I treat OCD holistically utilizing ERP, ACT, and Parts Work.
